Low points of DC/NY 2K4 trip:

-Creepy guys at H2O who don't get the hint.
-Flights with stupid layovers.
-Having $12 fall out of my pocket.
-Sam saying repeatedly "Mixin business with pleasure" in totally creepy voice followed by giggle/cackle.

Highlights of DC/NY 2K4 trip:
-EVERYTHING ELSE!

So I finllay made it back to the East Coast after three long years. I gotta say, it was great. Lisa and I went to DC to visit some of her friends from last summer. I'd never been there before so we checked out a lot of the sights. White house, capitol tour, Washington monument, Lincoln memorial, WWII memorial, sculpture garden, natural history museum. Plus shopping in Georgetown and a couple clubs. While I haven't been to all that many clubs lifetime, so far DC definitely has the nicest clubs. Even though the guys were mad skeezy at one of them, the space was still hella nice. They're big and clean and have nice places to sit and lots of bars. All clubs should be so nice. People have told me that I would really like DC and they were not wrong. There were a lot of places that felt sort of similar to parts of the Bay Area or other places I've been to, but some a little cleaner, a little more business casual. All in all it's definitely a place I'd like to go back to. One of the more memorable bits of DC was definitely the natural history museum and some x-rated animals. I won't get into it but I'll send you the pictures if you want. All I'm gonna say is that they're rather inappropriate for the throngs of children that pour through there daily.

After a couple days in DC we took the Chinatown bus to New York. Ahh New York. At some point on the plane to DC it hit me that I was gonna be back in New York and I was so excited. Since I've done most of the really touristy things all I really wanted to do was hang out with the friends and shop and eat steak cubes. The first night we had Korean food in Chinatown with all the Naascon people at the other end of the table that we didn't really talk to. Afterwards we split up and went to Sam's emo bar that was totally not emo at all where I did my first tequila shot. I was scared at first but it actually wasn't so bad. We moved on to a less emo, cooler bar where more drinking ensued. I was a little faded after the tequila shot, a beer, and stealing other people's beer, but it wasn't enough to wanna make drunk phone calls. (That and I had no service anyway!) Got to see Chrissy Turner for a quick second and had some crazy conversation with Sam and his friend Ross about fierce bangs and some other stuff I don't even remember. We called it a night and went back to Margot's cool upper westside (\x/!) apartment.
The next day was shopping (2 H&Ms in one day for the second time \m/) and Bombay Dreams (Salaam Bombay!) followed by steak cubes and drinking. I've been building up steak cubes in my mind (among other things..) for years now and I was sure that when I finally had them again they wouldn't live up to my hype and just be OK. But I was wrong. They were great.
The last day in New York will forever go down as Senior Cut day. I managed to get Margot, Sam and Jorge to ditch work (though I think it was Jorge's idea) and we had yummy brunch and saw Napoleon Dynamite. (Heck yes.) Then it was a mad dash up town, then back down to Chinatown, then hours and hours of travel.

All in all it was definitely a really good trip and I was sad to come back. I'm always sad to leave New York. But since Lisa will be living out there I'm sure I'll be back again some time in the next ten months. Ahh New York, how I miss thee. Someday we'll meet again.

Someone recently asked me if I was on an old computer because my profile looked weird and out of date. It was basically because I haven't updated my blog. So for my one quasi fan...

The quick recap on the past month-plus is this: I'm taking a digital editing class and everything else is exactly the same. Exactly the same. Yeah, so I'm taking this class at City which feels strange because I was at City three years ago so that I'd never have to go back, but here I am. It's like San Diego never happened. Except totally not, but that's besides the point. My class is cool and I'm probably gonna take more in the fall because I don't wanna get a real job and it makes me feel like I'm doing something and I just like school in general.

What else is there... I've been seeing a lot of movies lately after having been on a long movie-watching hiatus. I'm not entirely proud of all of them so I won't list them, but yes, I did see Harry Potter. Twice.

I was on the bus the other day and this older guy stood up because he was about to get off, and then all of a sudden his pants fell down. They just fell right down. Thank God for boxer briefs.

Oh, I turned 23. Tv1 took me out for a lovely, lovely dinner at Mecca and made me eat til I wanted to die. I suspect it's because if I actually did die there's a kidney in it for him. I jest! Dinner was great and so was the company. Alas, none of the items from the birthday list I posted showed up anywhere, not even the bear cub, but I'm told that my wish list may have been a bit unrealistic. To which I have to refer to the 'Wish' in 'Wish list' but whatever.. I got a bunch of money from the family but in retrospect there actually were some things I wanted. I suppose I could just buy them myself but it's not the same.

Money in my pocket has prompted me to go shopping even though money in pocket should ideally become money in bank, but who I'm kidding. I gave stupid Victoria's Secret too much of my money during their big ass sale, which is actually just depressing for many reasons. Shoes were bought too but those are going back. Maybe I will go buy some of things I actually want... interesting concept.

Started working out a lot more. May have led to respitory problems but thanks to some geekiness I won't get into, it's mostly taken care of. The problem with working out though really isn't the physical stuff, it's that my cd player hasn't been working well. I can't run at all because then the cd player doesn't work at all. I know that a viable solution to this is an iPod, and my mom offered up a birthday one but me being me I declined. Maybe some day when I have a job I can get one of my own... Ahh a girl can dream...

Been getting K-ified relatively a lot cuz they're the only ones around to hang out with. I won't get into it but suffice it to say that it's very scary how easy it is to fall into it.

Since I've been back int school I spend more time on the bus so I spend a lot more time reading. Time for the updated list...
